I personally hate it. It's so clean and see through – it lost for me it's coziness – I loved the old colors – it felt like home.

You took away my home Cry Am I nuts?

And why did we lose 100's of good threads? It's a bloody database – how do you lose half of it?

And where is the rest of our smiles?

And why it doesn't work on Android?

What do you guys think?

I think you aren't happy unless you are complaining.Surprised Admittedly there are some issues that need to be tweaked but this is a significant change.  I'll be doing my best to improve the formatting and interface as we move forward.

The membership was warned well in advance that posts made from Friday until the move was made were in danger of being lost. I am sorrythat has caused you hardship. Is there a particular thread or post that is of importance to you? I will see if I can dig it out of the archives for you.

Just getting use to it.  Not bad, not bad at all.  Not as many changes as I thought.  I like the phone app.  More later once I get use to moving around.  The math required to post is interesting.  I better watch my Jack consumption or better yet get out my calculator when I break out the shot glass.  Laugh

I'm not real thrilled with the fact that at the top of my screen it in huge letters its shouts AFFAIR to anyone with eyes and normal vision. But the I try too read through the threads and I cannot zoom in on my tablet  to make anything larger.

I have a question, if I may why the math problem to submit? And I'm having trouble editing before I post is there a tutorial or something?

thank you

I give freely with everything I have, to bad I also love this way.

Not enjoying since I keep getting compatibilty errors. Seems better now though, so hopefully my computer will figure it out.

Otherwise, seems too boring, formal, impersonal, cold? I'm just hoping in a few weeks I'll have forgotten what the old site looked like.

I am sorry that that title of the forum is intrusive, however on the old forum there was a large banner that  that spanned the entire length of the screen that was far more "loud".

I have no difficulty reading the forum on a tablet. The design is responsive so that it renders a style based on the screen size you are using. As far as the math problem, the forum gets hammered with spammers that use bots to post spam. This is an attempt to reduce the amount of spam that the moderators have to clean up.

If you are having trouble using the new advanced editor, you can view a tutorial here:

What tablet what OS you trying?

As far as I remember old top of page was ads so nobody paid attention

NS – I'm with you – impersonal – doesn't feel like home anymore – reminds me of Google – to clean to pure, not cosy

And I love Google for that – but it's a search engine not a very private support groupEmbarassed

First off…. I think that you need to understand that this is not a "private support group." It never has been and it never will be.

I might play around with colors once things are settled, personally I am a fan of clean design but I am open to trying out other palettes.

It renders just fine on an ipad and my iphone for that matter. I can tell you that the site was almost unreadable on my phone with the old software. In landscape, it renders pretty damn good.

Exactly what do you mean by "compatibility error? I have tested on multiple devices and have never had any error message.

LOL, Doc – we all know it wasn't your intention but like it or not – you created monster and it is support groupWink Just look at all of us supporting each other

Now back to issues – you can not test what I reported on your Iproducts – they don't run on Android but most of NO "I" smartphones and tablets do. And it isn't browser related as I tested with opera and firefox and original shipped with android which is based on Chrome

It will not resize or zoom, it's unreadable. It's same problem with yahoo answers page. Must be some coding in php which blocks resizeFrown

The resizing issue is not native to android. It is a function of the responsive design that allows one container to render differently across multiple devices. Regardless of the fact that I can not re-size or zoom on my ipad or iphone, the site renders far better than the old site did especially when you go landscape. Forum pages have TONS of things going on and it is very difficult to fit all of the components on to such a small screen. Is it perfect? no, of course not, but this is what we have. I am not sure what device you are using to post at the moment, but you  you have been posting at an astounding rate and it certainly doesn't appear to be slowing you down in the least.

I get the anti-spam measures – if you've never run a board, you can't possibly imagine the work involved. Every once in a while some garbage sneaks through but it is gone in a jiffy. Without Doc and his crew, this place would be unusable; so they are to be commended for keeping things clean and neat around here.

That said, I'm with you, Pandora the feeling is beyond clean to hospital-sterile. I was wondering if anyone was going to speak up. OTOH, unless we start paying Doc, we're guests here, not customers. Actually, we're pretty ballsy using Doc's resources to complainWink

Bottom line, I don't like it but I like you guys and I like being here more than I don't like the new surroundings.

I liked having the menu selection at the bottom of a page as well as the top (so you can jump back to a specific forum without scrolling back up).  It's a small convenience but makes for easier browsing.  I also kind of agree about the colors.  The blue was softer and more welcoming.

FWIW,

Not complaining.  It's change, and life is change.  I figure I need to 'figure it out' as I go, which is how I live life anyway LOL.

Sure, it's different, but after time, it will become familiar, like anyone else.  Who remembers the rotary dial-up phone?  LOL… yeah, I'm ancient.

Anyway, I appreciate that the site is still up, running, and usable.  Anything else, it's all gravy.

Thanks Doccool.Smile

I guess I'm one of the few that likes the design.  Cleaner, yes.  Much more sophisticated in my opinion.  The other one was fine, but I do like this one better.  Of course there are things to get used to, so get used to them.  Anyone who has been around on message boards for long knows that they will all change at some point.  Even a simple software update can make big changes to what had been.

Here's something else….if it doesn't work on one of your devices, use something else.  No one is "entitled" to be here.  This is not a private support group where people pay dues and have an expectation of receiving a certain product or service.  It is a free forum that anyone can join and participate.  If Doc Cool decides tomorrow that this is a money suck and not a money maker, he (or she) can delete in a second.  (Before anyone nit-picks whether it is a money maker or not, that isn't the point-the point is if he/she decides to dump it, it's gone).

I'm glad the site is here. I'll visit, read, post and use it as long as I need to or as long as it exists.  Thanks to Doc Cool for providing it for free.  And thanks to those that keep it running.

I like it.  The only complaint I have is the other website would show the first few sentences of a new topic before you clicked.  That was a nice feature when I didn't have a lot of time… It was nice to be able to jump in, check out the new topics and do a quick scroll to see what everyone was posting about.

Takes a little longer to get into every topic.  But had this been the site first, I would have still joined.

Thanks for the hard work to keep the site functional!
